Welcome to the Diocese of Leeds  Office for Education & Schools website.

Spiritual flameThe Education Team is here to support Catholic schools and colleges in the Diocese of Leeds in various ways, with a particular emphasis on developing the Catholic identity of our schools.

As part of the mission of the local Church the team provides advice and guidance to governors, staff and other stakeholders, and works in partnership with Local  Authorities.

Catholic schools and colleges have a significant part to play in the educational mission of the Church.

"This educational mission entails the ongoing development of the entire potential of every person. It seeks to promote the well-being and freedom of every person, which shape the daily life of a Catholic school as a community in which faith is expressed and shared through every aspect of its activity" (Statement from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, May 2000).

The distinctive mission of our diocesan schools is explained in:

Schools of Discipleship  -  Guidance for Leadership and Governance in Catholic Schools in the Leeds Diocese

Guidelines for Celebrating School Masses (Revised)

Proclaim the Glory of God - Guidelines for display in school
