Schools
There are currently 98 schools across eight Local Authorities in the Diocese of Leeds - this includes 81 primary schools, 15 secondary, 1 sixth form college and 1 special school for the deaf. There are 33,000 pupils attending these schools and 1,700 teachers employed by individual governing bodies. Approximately 750 members of the diocesan community give their time and expertise freely to these schools as foundation governors and a further 500 (approximately) members of the wider community join them to ensure that each governing body is complete and complies legally with each individual school's Instrument of Government.
