RISE @ Revelation
We were pleased to welcome Mark Norris (a professional actor) and Helen Martin (working for National Youth Theatre) to Revelation. Helen and Mark are members of the Catholic theatre company, RISE Productions and it was a pleasure to have them animate our evening.
Communicating
Helen and Mark, through drama and comedy, demonstrated to us some of the ways that we communicate as humans. We then had an opportunity to think about how we personally prefer to communicate. For example, do you prefer to talk lots? Or send quick text messages? Or write things down? Or play music? Or express yourself using your body?
Connecting with God
We were then invited to consider how we pray. Do we use our preferred way of communicating to communicate with God? Helen and Mark then asked us to come up with a short drama in groups to show how you can use various ways of communicating with God.
The Usual Stuff … Plus Some
The Revelation worship band were there, as usual, to lead us with some praise and worship and we had a couple of priests with us to give us the opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
In addition to all of this Anna had a whole load of cheap or free Christian CDs on offer and these were well received, especially by the new group of young people from St. Teresa’s, Crossgates, who came for the first time to Revelation that evening.
November Revelation
The next “Revelation” will be on held on Sunday 25th November 2007 where we will celebrate National Youth Sunday in the beautiful surroundings of Myddelton Grange. The theme is “Stewards of the Kingdom”. We will explore what it means to be a steward of God’s creation and a steward of the Gospel. Revelation is for young people in Years 9 – 13.
If you intend to come along to Myddelton Grange – please contact the Youth Office for a registration form. You can also download a form from the events section of www.leedsyouth.org.uk.
